The Spirit of The Baroque
Crafted for those who indulge not in commodities, but masterpieces. Every decision is deliberate, every cask an instrument, and every year a refinement of flavour, texture, aroma and balance.
Destined for the World’s Most Discerning Private Cellars
Like the intricate movements of a finely tuned timepiece, Exceptional Cask Collection MMXXV - Edition I is built layer by layer. Selected for its exceptional structural depth and historical resonance, this release, featuring a rare 2025.1 Tennessee Whiskey Cask, represents the pinnacle of the Baroque collection.

A finite ultra-premium Australian Single Malt matured in a rare ex-Tennessee Whiskey cask, constructed to explore the intersection between American whiskey sweetness, structural oak architecture and Australian climate concentration.
This Exceptional Cask Collection release was developed for serious collectors seeking elevated texture, integrated oak maturity and provenance and rarity. The ex-Tennessee Whiskey cask contributes a distinctive vanillin-forward character layered with the Lincoln County Process charcoal influence.
Aggressive thermal expansion and contraction inside the cask accelerate interaction between spirit and oak, amplifying viscosity, aromatic density and concentration while reducing yield through elevated angel's share evaporation. Individually numbered, non-chill filtered and released as an extremely finite collector allocation.

Finish
Long, polished and warming with lingering vanilla bean, oak oils, cinnamon complexity, caramel richness and dry structural oak.
Maturation Philosophy
This release demonstrates how uncommon American whiskey cask provenance can be reinterpreted through Australian climate maturation to create amplified concentration, elevated mouthfeel and ultra-premium oak integration.
Australian Climate Influence
Australian maturation creates repeated barrel movement, increasing contact between spirit and oak. This intensifies extraction, raises evaporation and concentrates flavour, producing a more finite and textural collector whisky.
Collector Positioning
Positioned above the Premium Range, this release is intended for serious collectors and private whisky cellars seeking archival Australian whisky with uncommon cask pedigree. See our guide to building a private whisky cellar, and why the single cask rewards the same obsession as a vintage sports car.
Ownership and Provenance
Every bottle carries its own number and arrives with a certificate of authenticity recording that number by hand. The certificate is encrypted, and each set carries unique features that triangulate with the house anti-counterfeiting technology, so an imitation fails at the first check.
Each numbered bottle is eligible for entry in the Baroque Whisky registry of ownership. The owner's name is recorded from the day the bottle leaves Australia and the entry is maintained for 25 years from the date of purchase, so an auction house or a future buyer can have provenance verified at the source rather than taken on trust.
Serving Philosophy
Built primarily for contemplative neat consumption. Its structural richness also supports spirit-forward luxury cocktails such as a Premium Old Fashioned, where oak sweetness and textural weight remain dominant.
Pairings
The vanilla and char profile is a natural cigar companion. See The Art of the Cigar Pairing and our cigar pairings.

Exceptional Cask Collection MMXXV Edition III, French Oak Meunier Cask, 59.7% ABV
“First off, this is a lovely, well-made and exceedingly pleasant malt whisky that is complemented by its maturation process in French oak. The high proof is never an issue at any stage. The overall impression is of integration and laser beam-like concentration, without ever being heavy handed.”
“A splendid, ‘oh my, that’s delicious’, sophisticated single malt whisky that I knew within 10 minutes was going to be very special.”

Nose: Once settled, an intriguing savoury creaminess emerges alongside freshly brewed black tea, restrained red berries, bitter menthol, and fresh mint.
Palate: Dry and structured with restrained sweetness. Red berries lead into black tea and gentle oak, giving the spirit an elegant, almost savoury character. The texture is creamy despite the dryness.
Finish: Long, dry, and refined. With a few drops of water, the palate becomes noticeably sweeter, while the finish develops an attractive savoury creaminess that complements the lingering red fruit and subtle oak.

The finale in the trilogy: an ex PX cask that shatters all expectations, at 51.7% ABV
“What begins as a quiet exploration of medjool dates—those opulent jewels of sweetness—quickly unfurls into a sensory crescendo. The palate is drenched in cream, a texture so indulgent it borders on the ethereal, while crisp green apples slice through with precision, lending a refreshing counterpoint. This is not mere whisky; it is a narrative, a memory of Chichibu’s finest incarnations, reborn with audacity and grace.
For the initiated—consider this your clandestine rendezvous. A substitute? Hardly. It is a parallel masterpiece, crafted for those who demand complexity and crave nuance.”

Next up, a unique cask finishing I’ve yet to come across: an ex-botrytis cask by Baroque at 49.5% ABV.
“It begins in the stark geometry of an abandoned paper mill—dry, brittle, almost skeletal paper fragments breaking apart at the slightest touch. Then, a sudden surge of umeshu, fresh and verdant, a fleeting innocence before the inevitable descent. The green fades to scarlet, lush foliage bleeding into a carnivorous dusk. The air thickens with iron and flesh—Bloody Mary in hand, primal hunger awakened. A prune shadow closes in, dense and brooding before fading away ever so slowly “
